Write to End Violence Against Women Awards 2018 now open
The sixth Write to End Violence Against Women Awards are now open!
Violence against women is often in the news but the fact that it is such a complex topic can mean that even journalists with the best of intentions can misrepresent some of the issues and perpetuate myths that are harmful to women.
We want to change that. Many journalists and bloggers produce high quality work which confronts violence and gender inequality and we want to celebrate their work.
We are looking for journalism, blogs, comment and opinion pieces which shine a light on violence against women and gender inequality. You can submit your own work or someone else's work in any of the below categories.
- Best Article – news
- Best Article – features
- Best Blog or Comment piece
- *New for 2018* Year of Young People Award in partnership with The Young Women’s Movement
- Wooden Spoon – worst article
To find out more about the Write Awards and to submit your work, enter on the Write Awards website before 30 September. You can also have a read of the shortlisted articles from the past five years. All shortlisted writers will be invited to an awards ceremony on 28 November at the Scottish Storytelling Centre.
Good reporting can play a vital role in increasing understanding of violence against women and challenging its place in our society. Help us celebrate the best of Scottish journalism at the sixth Write Awards.
