Award Opportunity for Scottish Journalists -- Call for Nominees
The Write to End Violence Against Women Awards are a unique opportunity to reward Scottish journalists who have furthered the cause of gender equality through their work over the past year.
Good reporting can play a vital role in increasing understanding of violence against women and challenging its place in our society. And many journalists produce high quality work which confronts violence and gender inequality. We believe that hard work should be recognised.
In recognition of the fact that “straight news pieces” and “comment pieces” often have different styles and aims, we have split the Best Print Journalist Article category into two separate categories this year. These categories are open to paid journalists in Scotland, or who write primarily for a Scottish audience, to nominate themselves for the 2015 Awards.
Editors are also encouraged to nominate staff writers who have produced exemplary violence against women journalism published between 01/09/14 and 01/09/15.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Scottish Parliament in December.
There are several categories that are particularly suited to professional journalists:
- Best Print Journalism Article – news
- Best Print Journalism Article – comment & features
- Gender Equality Award 2015: Women 50:50 Gender Equality in Political Reporting
