Challenging Violence, Changing Lives

The 'Challenging violence, changing lives' programme aims to raise awareness and transform attitudes to stop violence against women.

It comprises of:

  • Lesson Plans:a free CD-Rom with 12 lessons looking at healthy relationships and challenging gender-based violence;
  • Stop Sexual Bullying: a campaign with a code of practice, downloadable assemblies and lesson plans
  • www.respect4us.org.uk: an interactive website for young people to explore issues of violence, and more.

The lessons are designed to complement the English/Welsh school curriculum (PSHE and Citizenship, key stages 3 and 4) but can be adapted for use in Scottish schools or other youth settings.

The Thomas Coram Institute and five pathfinder schools explored the process of developing and implementing a programme of activities to stop violence against women.

Womankind has now taken a strategic decision to end the UK Education programme and exit our other work within Europe in order to focus our energy and resources on the needs of women in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
