A Baseline Survey in Glasgow and Edinburgh on the Beliefs, Views and Experiences of FGM (2010)

The objectives of this research were; to gain general insights form men and women who come form FGM practicing communities; to increase knowledge about women and girls affected by FGM in Scotland; and to provide preliminary information for future grounded research of FGM and its impact in Scotland. Following this initial piece of research DARF recommend that more needs to be done to tackle FGM in Scotland as the lack of data on FGM makes it difficult for policy makers and professionals to respond effectively to the needs of affected women and to protect girls from undergoing FGM.
