We are seeking to recruit up to five skilled and enthusiastic trustees to join our board.
We work to tackle the root causes of men’s violence against women and promotes a primary prevention approach – we challenge the attitudes, values and structures that sustain inequality and gender-based abuse. This voluntary position is an exciting opportunity to work with a small but very innovative and vibrant charity and make a real difference.
We have recently begun to plan our strategy for the period 2012-2015, and we would particularly welcome applications at this time from:
* professionals with financial experience or skills (including a Treasurer)
* people with legal expertise
* people with campaigning expertise
* people with an interest in challenging commercial sexual exploitation (prostitution, lap-dancing, stripping etc)
* people involved in the grassroots feminist movement, especially younger women.
We want to have a diverse board and so we would welcome people who have not been part of a Board before, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, younger women and feminist men. Trustees help us shape the organisation, set its priorities, champion its work, and occasionally represent the organisation at events, so you will need to have ideas, enthusiasm, a commitment to this work, and availability to attend occasional events and meetings as well as regular Board meetings.
The Board of Trustees normally meets six times a year in Edinburgh, in the early evening, and holds an annual planning or review day.
For further information about our current work visit the Projects page or for an informal chat please feel free to contact Jenny Kemp on 0131 624 8956 (after 9 January 2012).
