Write to End Violence Against Women Bursary 2016 : Call for applications.

Applications are now open for the 2016 Write to End Violence Against Women Awards Bursary.  The award winner will produce six pieces of writing on topics related to violence against women and the press, which will be jointly commissioned by Zero Tolerance and The Sunday Herald.

The recipient of the bursary will play a key role in helping us to continue to grow the profile of the Write to End Violence Against Women Awards and develop a year-round supporting campaign, raising the awareness of news consumers as well as journalists and empowering them to take action.

The work of the winner will be featured in The Sunday Herald as well as on the Writetoendvaw.com blog.

The award is open to any promising writer in Scotland, the only condition is that you should not have been published previously in a paid capacity. We wish to elevate the voices often not heard within the mainstream media, and we would particularly encourage applications from working class, BAME, LGBT and disabled women.

Last year's winner Kirsty Strickland says
'Being the first bursary winner for the Write to End Violence Against Women awards has been more beneficial than I could have imagined. I applied because I am interested in how women are portrayed in the media, and how violence against women is reported. I didn't think I would end up doing all sorts of other things after it and how much of a rewarding opportunity it would be.'

If you are interested in applying for the bursary then please download the application form at the bottom of the page. You can also download a job description if you would like to find out more about the role.

Please send in completed applications to info@zerotolerance.org.uk

The application deadline is Sunday the 10th  of July 2016.

Interviews will be held on Friday the 22nd of July 2016.
