Recent research by Health Scotland found that one in two young people thought that a woman could provoke violence simply by the way she dressed, highlighting the culture of woman-blaming that still exists in Scotland today. Becoming a Youth Ambassador will give you the chance to challenge these attitudes and support us as we work to prevent one of the world's most pervasive form of human rights abuse.
The Zero Tolerance Charitable Trust campaign to end male violence against women by tackling the root causes of this violence. As a ZT Youth Ambassador, you will represent The Zero Tolerance Trust throughout your university, school, or community. By raising awareness of violence aganist women and children and by organising events to raise money for Zero Tolerance you will be helping us to end violence and abuse.
There are no hard and fast rules about what you must do as a youth ambassador and the type of events you will organise should depend on how much support your group give you and how much time you can devote to Zero Tolerance. You may want to set up a weekly campaign club and invite a series of speakers to talk to your classmates about our work or perhaps you would like to throw a Zero Tolerance party and raise some money for us. Whatever you chose to do you will be helping us to challenge the attitudes that lead to violence against women. Pick activities that you know your community would enjoy and use your powers of persuasion to get friends, family and locals to chip in.
As one of our very own youth ambassadors you will be part of a Scotland-wide Zero Tolerance community and we will always be on hand to help make your events successful. We will provide an induction to start you off and training sessions to improve the skills you’ve got. If needed, we can supply you with Zero Tolerance materials and even guest speakers to inspire you. Keep us up to date with everything you plan and not only will we advertise it to our supporters but we will let you know what everyone else is up to.
Apart from being fantastic experience to put on your C.V, being a ZT Youth Ambassador will be seriously good fun. You will be arranging events that everyone will want to be part of, from club nights to bungee jumps. As a ZT Youth Ambassador you will be making a very real contribution to the worldwide campaign to stop violence against women. If that’s not enough to inspire you, the ambassador who can organise the most successful events for Zero Tolerance throughout the year will win a great prize. Watch this space for more details!
