No Amnesty Day of Global Action

by Zero Tolerance Co-director, Jenny Kemp

Today, Zero Tolerance is supporting the “No Amnesty Day of Global Action”. This is to highlight that we believe that Amnesty International has got it wrong on prostitution by supporting full decriminalisation of the sex trade. Our position on prostitution is set out here.

‘Amnesty Action’ supports the Nordic Model, which is a set of laws and policies which penalises the demand for commercial sex while decriminalising individuals in prostitution and providing them with support and exit services. We believe that there is scope for developing a specific Scottish model and hope that the current debate around prostitution in Scotland will enable a conversation about a new approach, that starts from questioning why men buy sex and how their behaviour harms all women.
